Adult & Children’s Services
We use a two-generation approach to support our families, meaning that we focus not just on the parent(s) or child(ren) but on both, including finding ways to help parents engage with their children to improve their futures.
These include Work Readiness (resume writing, mock interviews, customer service training, and job search assistance); Life Skills (problem-solving, planning, time management, and organizational skills); Education Support (referral to GED classes, assistance furthering their education and acquiring qualifications); Financial Literacy (managing money, budgeting, and use of credit); Parenting Education (child development, appropriate discipline, child-parent interaction, and development-centered parenting); and Self Care (mental health support, empowerment groups). The actual suite of services and individual goals taken up by each adult client reflects the priorities established in the case plan developed by the client’s Case Manager.
Our children’s programs are provided to every child we serve, birth to eighteen years, and include afterschool and summer programming consisting of tutoring, mentoring, homework assistance, and recreational and enrichment activities. Emotional and mental health support is also offered through our community partners. Each child 6 weeks to 18 years is also evaluated by staff and provided with a recommended education plan. These services are designed to provide new opportunities and to help children excel in school and in their relationships.
