Gateway to Jobs

Our Gateway to Jobs program offers clients a chance to break the cycle of homelessness by improving their employment skills and finding permanent employment.  Experienced vocational counselors screen, assess, and offer job search and placement assistance, as well as teach participants the work ethics, habits and behaviors necessary to retain employment.

Gateway to Jobs also provides employers with applicants who understand the standards of performance required to earn a paycheck.  Family Gateway seeks to serve as a quality-controlled “one-stop shopping” point for potential employers.  Vocational counselors partner with several Dallas employers to offer stable, meaningful employment to Family Gateway’s program participants.

Family Gateway Culinary Arts Program

In partnership with El Centro college, Family Gateway offers a 12-week culinary arts training program. The class gives clients of Family Gateway and partner organizations marketable skills and the opportunity to learn:

Food production: knowledge of techniques and equipment for consumption, including storage/handling techniques as well as food safety

Food preparation, production and processing

Tools and equipment

Kitchen safety and cleanliness

Nutrition

Graduates of the program are currently enjoying positions in restaurants and catering.
