Eligibility
All families wishing to enter the transitional housing program at Family Gateway Center must participate in a screening and interview process. Eligible families must be:
- Single or two-parent families with children
- Dallas County residents
- Not fleeing an abusive situation
- Motivated to enter and complete the program
- Able to benefit from a ten-week program
Families applying to enter Gateway Apartments must be:
- Single or two-parent families with children
- Former residents of Family Gateway Center
- Willing to abide by apartment rules
- Motivated to participate in the program, which results in employment and housing in the community
In addition, a decision on entry is made based on a nationwide criminal background check. If a family is determined to be ineligible, Family Gateway provides transportation via taxi or bus to an emergency shelter.
