Family Gateway is dedicated to providing families with services designed to restore dignity, stability and self-sufficiency to the family unit.
Family Gateway’s staff concentrates on assessing the needs of each individual family and creating a goal-oriented plan with the family to meet those needs.
Eligible families who enter Family Gateway’s programs receive assessment and training in the following areas:
- Individual and family counseling
- Life-skills training
- Pre-employment skills
- Job search and placement assistance
Eligibility
All families wishing to enter the transitional housing program at Family Gateway Center must participate in a screening and interview process.
Eligible families must be:
- Single or two-parent families with children
- Dallas County residents
- Not fleeing an abusive situation
- Motivated to enter and complete the program
- Able to benefit from a ten-week program
Families applying to enter Gateway Apartments must be:
- Single or two-parent families with children
- Former residents of Family Gateway Center
- Willing to abide by apartment rules
- Motivated to participate in the program, which results in employment and housing in the community
A Process for Success
Step 1- Family Gateway Center Phone Screening
Step 2 - Intake Interview
Step 3 - Program Acceptance
Step 4 - Establish a Case Plan
Step 5 - Gateway to Jobs Participation
Step 6 - Begin Job Training or Employment
Step 7 - Move to Gateway Apartments or Community Housing
Step 8 - Community Transition Services
