Our Clients

Since November 1986 more than 3,800 families have been assisted by Family Gateway and over 7,300 children have been nurtured and protected.

2007 Client Demographics
A composite of our guests:

Family Status – 76% were headed by single, female parents
Ages of Adults – 56% were 18-30 years old; 43% were 31-50 years old; 4% were 51-61
Educational Level – 59% were high school graduates; 14% had GED
Ethnicity – 83% African-American; 11% Caucasian; 3% Hispanic; 3% Other
Ages of Children – 44% were pre-schoolers
Length of Time Homeless – 88% of the families were homeless 3 months or less

2007 Achievements

Served 212 families with 337 children at the Annette G. Strauss Family Gateway Center
Served 43 families with 111 children at Gateway Apartments
Served 77 families with 161 children in Community Transition Services
Parents served in Gateway to Jobs/Customer Service Training – 91 graduated; 56 entered jobs or continuing education
