Our Programs Children's Programming |
Children’s ProgrammingChildren are our future. It is imperative that we positively impact those factors that help determine their future. All children face obstacles in today’s world, but the problems are multiplied for those living in extreme poverty. Family Gateway implements and administers programming specifically to address these issues. Some of these programs have included: Touching/Personal Safety – Designed for children between the ages of 2-10, the program teaches self-awareness and educates children on appropriate and inappropriate behaviors of others towards them, adults and other children. Children’s Arts – Encourages creative expression through painting, drawing, and music while also lowering stress and providing a low-key ending to the day. Tutoring/Literacy – All school-age children in residence are offered help in reading and other school projects. Volunteer storytellers foster children’s interest in reading with evening storytime. Adventures in Learning – This program introduces children to various professionals who explain their job requirements and duties. Police officers, firefighters, medical professionals, musicians, artists and former Mayors have all interacted with our children.
