Volunteers at Family Gateway become an extension of our staff and help in many different ways. Whether you work directly with our clients or behind the scenes, you will have an opportunity to make a difference.

Volunteer Opportunities

We have so many opportunities for you to help - and we are always looking for dedicated leaders and volunteers to help serve the community.

The following are some of the ways our volunteers have helped us in the past:

1.Work with children on homework and story time
2.Create arts & craft activities for children
3.Provide parties & entertainment for holidays
4.Teach clients resume writing and budgeting
5.Help prepare and/or serve meals to families.
6.Sponsor a donation drive
7.Organize or host a fundraising event
8.Help w/ collection and organization of holiday gifts
9.Sort donations & greet customers at Family Treasures Resale Shop

Volunteer Application

Group Volunteers

Family Gateway welcomes group volunteers from all parts of the community. Groups like congregations, corporations, Scouts, and students can make a huge impact at Family Gateway. College students can also earn credit through our service learning opportunities. Group projects in the past have included:

1.Painting hallways & bedrooms
2.Decorating a room at the Center
3.Decorating an apartment
4.Landscaping
5.Helping at fundraisers & events
6.Organizing a donation drive or fundraising event

Family Gateway does provide opportunities for Community Service Restitution. All volunteers must submit to a national background check, including criminal and/or sexual offender background checks.
